How Can A Small Painful Lump On The Ankle Be Treated?
just found a small slightly painful lump under the skin of my left ankle -about the size of a dime. How do I know if it is a blood clot? It is not warm to the touch, or red (until I started to touch it). feels like a pebble under the skin. I can t see a bite mark and it does not itch. My dad had clots and was on medicine, but he was very heavy. I am thin. What are the signs of a blood clot?
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. The painful lump you are describing seems to be unrelated to having clots. Clots usually occur in veins, mostly in upper and lower extremity and only physical symptoms of having blood clots are swelling of affected extremity and pain.
For example if you had blood clot in your right leg, pressing on your calf muscle would be painful and you would have red, hot, swollen right leg. The mass your describing seems to be a localized mass and first line of treatment would be obtaining a x-ray of your ankle.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Samuel Parmar
