How Can A Surgical Incision On The Foot Be Treated?

I had a small Squamous Cancer cut off the top of my foot 2 weeks ago and was told to keep a bandage with Vaseline on it for up to 30 days, but the cut is not healing with bandages. My question: would it be best to not bandage cut so it can get air to the area?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Many wounds including cancer wounds are susceptible to infection. This may be because of reduced immunity in the body. The low WBC counts can cause this as well.

It would be best to discuss the chance of infection and whether to leave the wound open. This is because one may have an infection even when the immunity is alright.

Do let me know what your doctor says. All the best.
