How Can A Swollen Tragus A Week After Piercing It Be Treated?
Hi I had a tragus piercing done a week ago it was fine until I accidentally knocked it and it became really swollen leading to an embeddded earring before it got worse I managed to take it out I have now got a longer length earring the tragus it still really swollen now and I do not want to remove the earring as I don t want the hole to close. What should I do.
I do understand your concern. In this case it is adviced to remove the earring because the wound will close in a faster way, and when it is cured you may try to do the hole again.
But, since you don't want to close the hole I would recommend that you wash the tragus with warm water mixed with salt and bicarbonate. Use some cotton to help you keep the infected area clean. Repeat this 5 times a day removing any crusts. An antibiotic cream used 2-3 times a day after cleaning the tragus on the infected area is recommended also, or if you don't like to put the cream, you just have to take some orally tablets. Ask in the drug store for penicillin like antibiotics. If you have a lot of pain, get ibuprofen 3 times a day after meal.
Please do NOT use alcohol, peroxide or oils, they may worsen the situation.
Hope this helped, Dr. ENi
