How Can A Torn Muscle In The Shoulder Be Treated?

Hello after my MRI on my shoulder it showed that I had tearing of the infraspinatus and a 180 degree labural tear from the three o clock position to the nine o clock position. My doctor at the VA said he can t perform the surgery because it s to complex. Would a injury like this be done arthroscopic or open surgery? About how many anchor will be used. How long will I be in a sling for and how long is the recovery.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

This is complex injury and of course, it can always be managed surgically but it is questionable how well will the result be. It is possible that you ll hav same symptoms even after surgery, In every case, I thing that it cant be done artorsopically since approach to this part of shoulder is difficult and open surgery is recommended. usually 4 anchors are required and you ll have to be immobilized with our arm in sling for 2 weeks but this is indiviudal and depend son other factors.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
