How Can Muscle Pull In The Shoulder Be Treated?

I pulled something on my shoulders while chopping woods. My ROM is limited now; I can lift it half way up, unable to raise my arm above my shoulders. I was told a have a torn ligament. what tests should be done to be certain it is torn ligament? And if it is torn ligament, what should I do to ease the pain? And what exercises can I do at home to strengthen these areas to prevent future injuries? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

2 possibilities are there:
- Only muscle spasm is there and no injury to the joint capsule or supportive ligaments. This can be relieved by taking muscle relaxants like tablet Dan MR.

If actually rotator cuff injury is present, you should seek advice of orthopedic doctor. So first try Dan MR and wait fir 24 hours to observe any improvement.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
