Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Two days ago I was stung by a wasp on my front calf about 6 inches above my inner ankle. It was more painful than the last time. Approximately 15 minutes later I tried to pull the stinger out and then put moist baking soda on it. It now has gotten rosy red and is wrapping around my calf will come together in 4-5 inches. It is swollen, tender to the touch, not hot and itches terribly between the ankle and knee around reddened area. Ice pack feels good. When uncovered it itches. Will soaking it with Epsons salt help. I do have Benadryl diphenhydramine hydrochloride topical analgesic but not sure if it helps. Any advise?
I think you are treating it well with antihistamines such Benadryl or can even use cetirizine. You can also use prednisone injection to help with an allergic reaction. You can use antibiotic ointment or betadine to disinfect it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
