Alcohol addiction can be treated depending on the WILL of the alcohol dependent patient to get out of alcohol addiction, medications which act on various aspects of alcohol addiction like anti craving agents viz. naltrexone, topiramate, baclofen, acamprosate which reduce desire to drink alcohol; deterrent medications like disulfiram (antabuse) which cause unpleasant reaction upon intake of alcohol etc. These are coupled with expert counselling techniques like relapse prevention counselling (RPC), motivation enhancement therapy (MET), token economy etc. These therapies are administered by Psychiatrist, Psychologist, certified addiction counselors working at a professional dead diction setup.
