How Can Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms Be Controlled?

Hi. I have been drinking a lot over the passed few weeks. I would drink mostly at night and I play sports on the weekends so I"m in pretty decent shape. I'm starting the process quitting drinking or at least cutting back a lot and have only experienced slight withdrawal symptoms. I'm a little worried because I've been reading about the fatal aspects but how much alcohol do you have to drink in a certain time frame for that to come about. I'm a 27 year old male as well

You should not worry since you are experiencing only mild withdrawal symptoms.
If you are otherwise healthy and not drinking alcohol for a very long period, the withdrawal is unlikely to cause delirium. Delirium is a medical emergency.
Usually delirium from withdrawal of alcohol develop after one to four days of abstinence.
You may take a benzodiazepine such as diazepam or ativan for the first few days of abstinence to control withdrawal symptoms. Make sure that you reduce the dosage slowly and then stop these medicines completely within a fortnight. You may approach your general practitioner for consultation and prescription.
