How To Treat Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms?

do you have experience with patients who have experienced racing heart rate, light-deaded, pressure on neck and throat, sewathy hands and feet, feeling of passing out and doom, as if having a heart attack after a night of heavy drinking? Is this from withdrawal? Or due to years of alcohol abuse? How can one slow down the heart and feel better when this happens? It s very scary. Is it worth having another drink just to make it go away? Or is medical treatment required, such as IV fluids and valuim?

Certainly panic attacks will feel this way. I cannot say in your particular case without a direct examination. Alcohol can trigger panic attacks in several ways. The withdrawal from it, certainly feels like a panic attack. People who've had alcohol for many years have increased panic attacks.
