My 50 year old son stepped on a nail which went through the sole of his shoe while working on remodeling. He has had a reaction (hives, etc.) the one time he had a tetnus shot, and so has not sought out another one. The nail penetrated only about 1/4 inch, he came inside immediately and washed it, drenched it with peroxide, it was not deep enough to actually flow, but he did pump it a little to be sure it was open and washed out. He then put triple anti B on it and covered it with a bandage. Today it is very sore, and we had wondered if he would be in need of an antibiotic. He has soaked it in epsom salt today, and applied peroxide again, and applied triple Anti B ointment again as well. Do we need to seek emergent care?
