How Can An Infected Wound On The Leg Be Treated?

I have adema. I had a hematoma on my leg that was lanced and bleed out. This was in August. I was prescribed santyl about a month ago. I clean it and use wound wash on it and but the santyl on and a bandage and an ace wrap around it but it hadn t fully healed. It s also itchy around the wound and a yellowish fluid seeps from around the wound. What can I do to better treat and heal it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to gently clean with soap and warm water the wound. Apply antibiotic cream to reduce the risk of infection and cover with a sterile bandage. You can also take oral antibiotics if needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
