I have developed a severe rash and itching;medical dr. put me on Prednisone 20mg 1 a day for 10 days and triamcinolone acetonide cream o,1%, not helping, told me today to call my Onconlogist and said it could be the Arimidex. i have 2 more doses of Prednisone to take and told to take them and continue the cream, Oncolongist does not thin its the arimidex but said stop for 1 week and call her back. The rash is really bad and itching is terrible
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Skin problems are difficult to understand until seen. It cannot be surely said that Arimidex can cause rashes. Arimidex has been found to be causing rashes so cannot rule out to be the cause of rash completely. You better talk to a dermatologist and he can see the rash and match it with any other disease or decide whether it's due to the drug that has caused it. I would suggest seeing a dermatologist at the earliest. If this drug is causing rashes and you continue taking, the severity of rashes would increase and can become serious. Till that you can use the cream and some antihistamines to help with the itchiness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
