Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey Doc. A couple of days ago I backed into a 5 inch steel hook and it penetrated into my butt cheek about 3-4 inches deep.I now have a open and seeping wound that is about 3 inches long by 1 inch wide and about 2 inches deep. I cover it with clean cloths but am not using anything else. I have no medical coverage and cannot afford hospital care. It is obviously very red, swelling, and very tender. Advise?
* There are high chances of infection of such big wounds.
* As per my surgical experience, this requires thorough surgical cleaning and suturing according to the condition of the wound once evaluated by an expert surgeon.
* You can opt for the help from the community health centre if you do not have mediclaim, but do not neglect it for home care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
