Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a fall almost 2 yrs ago and my ankle is very susceptible now to injury. It is painful to touch under the ankle bone. THe tendon ?muscle? nerve? is right under my ankle bone and then it continues up the side front of my leg. It will hurt halfway up my leg as well if I am on it much. I know it is not broken or fractured. I was looking up to see any suggestions. I have the KT tape I was going to try on it since I feel like I re-injure it when I walk on it. But I need to know what it might be called in order to know how to tape it. Elevating it and ice do help
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM You may have had a simple non-displaced fracture of an ankle bone that consolidated poorly. If the case, pain will be normal occasionally especially after a strain or stress. It could as well be caused by osteoarthritis.Treatment options for such a pain are: various lines of pain medications depending on intensity, myorelaxants, steroids occasionally, physiotherapy.I will suggest you see your Doctor for examination and an ankle X-ray to look for any abnormalities linked to poor consolidation. After your Doctor's evaluation, if you need physiotherpy, he will send you to a trained physiotherapist to teach you how to use your KT tape. Hope this will help you Regards
