Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have middle back pain on the right side that comes and goes - sometimes for no apparent reason - other times it seems to come after I have lifted or twisted my back doing housework. Would physical therapy help or is there an exercise I can do to alleviate the problem?
Hello, Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern
The pain you re experiencing is likely due to muscle strain. You can apply ice on the area of pain for first 2-3 days and take Tylenol to help with pain. After the acute pain have subsided, use heat therapy to relax the muscles. Alsilo, get an Xray lumbar spine done to rule out any other underlying causes. Physical therapy and muscle strengthening exercises can help with the pain. Avoid bending down at your back, but rather bend on knees to avoid back muscle strain.
