what is the blood test needed to detect bacterial Pneumonia? I have had my son in and they did blood and urine tests. All negative. He is cold(freezing he says) He has CP and usually doesn t care about hot or cold. He had a fever last week that was peeking at 102.5 going up and down. He has loss of appetite (very unusual), and is tired. Doesn t even want to play his X-Box.

How Can Bacterial Pneumonia Be Diagnosed?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. There is no blood test per se to diagnose pneumonia. It can be diagnosed by an x-ray and the symptoms. Difficulty breathing and some amount of chest pain are common symptoms, along with the high fever. Treatment is simple enough, with antibiotics. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
