I was diagnosed a week ago with bacterial pneumonia and Doxycycline was prescribed 2x day. I have not felt any improvement in the cough and pain caused by it.I have a follow up October 10 with my primary doctor but wonder if I should be checked sooner. Thank you
Hello and welcome to HCM, Bacterial pneumonia can be treated with antibiotics. However, if the symptoms are not improving with said antibiotics then you need to get sputum culture to select most appropriate and sensitive antibiotics.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
