How Can Bladder Infection Be Treated?

I am getting a bladder infection, i am sure. My doctor is unavailable until monday. The doctor on call prescribed a sinus infection antibiotic, which my pharmacy refused to fill for bladder problems. This will not wait until monday, and i have an rx for clindamycin hcl 150 mg. Can i take this until monday morning when my doctor returns, at which time, she can switch me to whatever she feels is right? I have a full rx for the clindamycin, which was prescribed for a severe tooth abcess. Instructions were 2 capsules every six hours until gone. It is an extra rx. I was given two. The only thing i need to know if i can take these short term until monday is dosage. Would i take the same as was prescribed for my tooth? I do feel safe doing this, but since i am not an md, would appreciate a yay, or nay, if possible. Thank you

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern of bladder infection and the unavailability of your doctor. Bladder infections have varied causes. I would see my patients reports fully before concluding it as any type of infection.

I would suggest my patients consult a physician before any medicines, but as in your case where your physician is not available now, it is still advisable to consult a physician before any medicines. As the medicine which you have mentioned is not usually prescribed for a bladder infection, I advise my patients not to take that medicine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Azhar Hussain,
