How Can Blood Pressure Level Be Kept Under Control?

I TAKE 100mgof losartan once perday. my doctor feels my blood pressure would be ideal if she added a 5mg amilodopine also, Can i try to just work on lower salt, exercise. IHAVE ALWAYS HAD borderline blood pressure but only took meds for a short period during my conception years not to have any problem if i were to become pregnant. About a year later I became sick and my pressure was low 110/60 I felt week and just sick. The doctor stated I did not need bp meds. Can I just monitor my pressure w/o the amilodopine or is not taking it risky or can I maybe take it everyother day. Is this suggestion possible.. I feel fine? But silent killer bp???

Hello,

Depending on how high your blood pressure has been, I think it would be reasonable to try to lower your salt, exercise, and lose weight if you are overweight at all. If you think you can make any changes in your lifestyle to control blood pressure, that would be the best way.

However, lifestyles changes are often hard to make, so your doctor may want you to use the medication for now, and if you are able to make those changes and the blood pressure is lower than it needs to be, maybe she would be able to stop the amlodipine.

Having slightly high blood pressures for a few months is not usually dangerous, but I would discuss this with your doctor so that both of you agree on a plan that makes sense and keeps you healthy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
