How Can Blood Pressure Levels Be Lowered?

I am currently taking accupril 40 mg one per day; 25 mg of hydrochlorizide and 0.1 mg of clonidine 3 times a day. I ve had a lot of trouble with blood pressure medicines just not being able to take it. I m also on norpramin, an antidepressant. I feel other medications affect this drug. My doctor would like to get my bp lower (now I m around 140-145 usually over the 80 s. Some times it is up to 160. Do you have a recommendation? I thought you could answer me on here because our email is not working right now. Thank you. Marilyn

Hi,

As you are taking 3 kind of medications for controlling your BP, it is better to increase the dose of your medications to the maximum possible dose before adding a new drug to your medications. I suggest you increase your Hydrochlorothiazide dosage and continue to monitor your blood pressures after a week. If it was not under control we can increase your ACE I dosage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
