Hello,
I understand your concern. You husband's current blood sugar levels are indeed very high and should be brought down to normal as soon as possible. In order to give a more accurate answer I would need more information on your husband's
diabetes type and the medication he takes. While
insulin is the fastest way to bring blood sugars down, I am unable to advice you on this and ok the correction dose. However there are three things he can do in the mean time:
1. Hydration. The more water he drinks the better, but two glasses are the recommended amount to start with. This will dilute the sugar burden in the blood.
2. Exercise. Taking a long walk around the neighborhood or performing light exercise, depending on his health condition is very helpful.
3. Eating a protein snack helps stabilize blood
glucose faster.
Also, a pinch of cinnamon on his protein snack can be of great help.
And of course, seeing a doctor first thing in the morning is the sensible thing to do.
I hope this helps.
Wishing you good health and the best.
