How Can Breathing Difficulty While Suffering From COPD Be Treated?

I have COPD and had open heart surgery 2 years ago. I am weak and have trouble breathing. I have pnuemonia also. I do not want to go to hospital. Is it ok to take an antibiotic given to me by Dr. a couple of months ago I did not take? It is SMZ/tmpDs

I can understand your concern.
Better not to take antibiotic without consulting doctor.
Breathlessness from COPD needs inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray.
Chest x ray is needed to rule out pneumonia.
You may need higher antibiotic, inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
Don't worry, you will be alright with appropriate treatment.
