How Can Bulimia With Excessive Eating And Weight Gain Be Controlled?

I was diagnosed last year as bulimic; binging followed by restricting with use of laxatives (no vomiting). I no longer use laxatives but neither do I have the control of restricting after and as a result my weight has sky rocketed since I started at University. I cannot control how much I eat and I can t seem to stop eating. I previously saw a psycologist and a psychiatrist but it didn t help. What should I do to get in control of my eating? Will I be able to loose weight while gaining control of it? What s the best thing to do, I want to feel good about myself again and fit my wardrobe of clothes I ve never worn. thankyou

Thank you for your mail.You can control your weight and urge for eating both.Just make few rules for eating.First of all make a journal and list all the food items you eat in a day along with quantity ,time and activities.You also have to mention your particular thought /emotion at the time of eating.After doing this exercise for one week you will be able to know most caloric food items,emotions and time.Now start replacing the caloric food items to non caloric or less caloric food items, also gradually decrease the quantity of food items.e.g. 2 patties to 2 cucumber or 1 burger to one glass of toned milk.
Then systamatically divide your total food in 8 small meals in a day.Dont stay hungry but eat less caloric items.Develop some enjoyable hobbies to curb the negative emotions.Excercise should also be part of your life at least for half an hour in a day.Dont expect the result in a day it will take time but definately help you.
