How Can Burning Sensation In The Right Foot Be Treated?
hello....my name is montoria...I have type-2 diabetes and I suffer from a burning sensation in my right foot area...I recently had knee surgery after a fall in March of this year....my question is could it be the medication that I take for diabetes having this effect on me? I take Atorvastatin 200mg every night and Metformin 500mg tablets.
No, it is not the medication you are taking for Diabetes that is causing your discomfort of the feet. It is Diabetes itself, causing nerve damage. This is called Diabetic Neuropathy. This can be diagnosed by a 'Nerve Conduction Test'. Depending on the degree of nuropathy, the dosages of medication is prescribed. Usually Capsule Pregabalin is the medication of choice. If medication do not help much, another management for Neuropathic discomfort is 'Anodyne Therapy'. Also please keep your skin of the feet soft and supple by any skin softner, like Vaseline applied on the dorsum, plantar aspect of your feet and the legs. Please always wear footwear with soft pressure distributing insoles, to prevent callus formation. Materials like Poron, Silicon, Plastazote, EVA are good. There are institutes which custom make diabetic footwear with these materials.
