Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have COPD. I also have bronchitis for the past week. My doctor gave me predisone and arithimyasin. I have been on this for 6 days now and tonight I have this rattle in my chest. I cough to get rid of it and it comes back fast. What is it. I am afraid it is fluid in my lungs. What do I do till I see my dr. in the morning.
As per your query, you have symptoms of chest congestion and cough and occurring constantly which is due to a severe chest infection and due to a poor immune system of the body. Need not to worry much.
Visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should get X-ray chest done. You should go for pulmonary function tests as well to check the exact level of infection. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drugs.
You should avoid taking cold carbonated beverages. Use mist humidifiers in the room. Take steam several times a day, which will be very helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
