How Can Chronic Constipation And Fecal Impaction Be Treated?

My daughter has chronic constipation. She has not eliminated in over a week. This is quite typical for her. I can feel a lump on her left side above her belly. It is hard as a rock. She is in pain. What can we can to help break up that fecal impaction?

Hi, I understand your concern and wish to clear your doubts.

It would have been better if u have mentioned her age. Constipation is common among children and it is really worrisome for parents.
First thing is you should not have neglected her constipation, it should be treated as early as possible.
I advice you to take your daughter to a pediatrician as soon as possible, because impacted stools can be removed only by an expert. In your daughter case prescribing a laxative might not work based on your description of her symptoms.
A suppository can also be adviced, but only after an expert consultation. Meanwhile ask her to drink lots of liquids.
