How Can Colic And Constipation In An Infant Be Treated?

My son is now 2 months old and he s been very fussy and colicky basically since birth. We decided to switch his formula to Soy (suggested by pediatrician) about 4/5 days ago to see if it helped and he has seemed happier with smaller amount of crying time, but now he is spitting up a lot more now(After almost every feed) and slightly constipated. Do I need to switch formulas again?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

First thing why to feed a two months old kid with formula feeds? Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for six months. Means nothing but only breast milk. Secondary options are to be sought only when the mother doesn't have adequate breast milk. Stop the formula feeds etcetera. Start breastfeeding. Constipation will resolve following it. If there is no adequate milk from the mother then breastfeed and supplement with formula feed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shakeel Khan
