How Can Dizziness And Blurred Vision While On Lamotrigine Be Managed?
Hi, I recently started using Lamotrigine for Bipolar Depression and it s making me feel lightheaded , blurry vision and not always thinking clearly. Is this a normal reaction to the medication ? When I was put on Lithium years back I don t recall having these symptoms I am now experiencing in the beginning of treatment. Please give me your opinion. Thank You !!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Lamotrigine is associated with dizziness (38% of persons), and blurred vision (16 to 20% of persons). It can cause abnormal thoughts in less than 10% but is not usually known to cause confusion. Persons respond differently to medication, so it is possible that it is the reason for not thinking clearly. You should speak to your doctor about your concerns.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
