How Can Dry Mouth And Sinus Congestion Be Treated?
I am having a problem with dry mouth - only at night. I have sinus problems but with netti pot my nose is clear at night. The dry mouth is affecting my teeth. I wake up about every 2 hours and have to use a gel spray so it is also affecting my sleep. I only take statins and synthroid. What can I do to get relief?
Dry mouth only at night is commonly seen due to mouth breathing habit due to which the mouth becomes dry due to exposure of the mouth mucosa to the air. If it would be due to medicines, then it would happen during the day too. So in case if you do not have any problem breathing through the nose, then you can use a trick in which you have to stick a vertical strip of micropore tape commonly known as doctor's tape on your closed lips. It will enforce nasal breathing and will not let the mouth dry up. You can also stick Xylitol patches on the mucosa so that it maintains a lubricating layer in the mouth.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
