How Can Ear Drum Perforation With Acute Pain Be Alleviated?

hello, i have had a painful ear for 6 days now, and the Dr told me 4 days ago that the eardrum was perforated. i am taking some anti biotic ear drops to help but the pain is continuous unless i take ibuprofen 2 or 3 x a day , and in between paracetamol.. First, how else can i alleviate the pain( heat, salt in a hot sock.) ?, and second should i not use loud building tools as i am renovating a house, could this cause more trauma or does this not matter ?Thank you in advance Jim. This is my query !!!

Hi,

You are having an ear drum perforation due to acute otitis media or acute infection of the middle ear. The pain in middle ear is due to ear infection. So start taking Ciplox ear drops for 2 week. Take anti-allergic tablet Levocetrizine for 2 week. This will reduce the inflammation and will help in reducing the pain. Take Paracetamol for 5 days to reduce pain. During bathing plug ear with cotton smeared with baseline so that no water goes inside the ear. Pain will only reduce of you reduce the infection and that is possible only by above remedies.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
