Hello My daughter was place on the Nifedipine ER Osmotic 30 MG Take twice a day after the birth of her son for high blood pressure. And her blood pressure is still elevated. How long should this medicine be taking if her blood pressure is still elevated or should she be referred back to the Dr.
Hello, Thanks for the query. Unless a person has chronic hypertension (being hypertensive even before the pregnancy), then high BP may remain after delivery also. But if one gets high BP during pregnancy, then post delivery with in next few days BP returns to normal, that is to pre - pregnancy level. It may take up to 6 weeks. So it may be necessary for her to take the drug for that length of time. Keep checking the BP every few days. Thanks.
