My husband is a stroke victim since 3 years ago...was put on verapamil in September. His BP a few minutes ago was 194/99. Can t get ahold of his doctor...am waiting for the reply. We have some Amlodipine in the house. Should I give him some of that?
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. I suggest you to use a nifedipine 20 mg sublingual. Some advices that I can give to you are : -Loose weight if you are overweight or obese. -Quitting smoking. -Eating a healthy diet, including the DASH diet (eating more fruits, vegetables, and low fat dairy products, less saturated and total fat) See a cardiologist for a continuous treatment. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help. Kindly regards, Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
