How Can Elevated Blood Pressure Levels Be Treated?

I was off of the medication Amlodipine for about 6 weeks. when I went to the doctor for regular check up my blood pressure was 122/72 and he recommended that I continue to take medication. I was a little upset because I want to be medication free. I m eating a low salt diet and have changed to more vegtable s and less meat. Was he correct in continuing the medication.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Amlodipine which is a calcium channel blocker was helping to keep your blood pressure under control. A sudden increase in blood pressure may lead to many complications. I would advise you to your blood pressure regularly monitored and go back to your physician for review of your medications as you have already stopped it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
