Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Elevated Blood Pressure Levels Be Treated?
I had suspected high blood pressure and so was provided with a monitor to use for 1 week. My average blood pressure has worked out 157/102. I have returned details to doctor but must wait weeks for appointment. Am wondering what this means. I am 49 year old male, generally in good health till now! Don’t smoke or. Drink to excess. Live in countryside and am active.
Based on your blood pressure readings, you will likely need to be started on a medication to lower your blood pressure. Some things that can raise blood pressure are medications such as decongestants and NSAIDs such as motrin, naproxen, ibuprofen, aleeve. Thus is you are taking any of these regularly I would recommend to stop. The DASH diet can be tried as well. I would recommend a follow up with your physician.
