How Can Elevated Cholesterol Levels Be Treated?

I read that non-HDL cholesteral goal should be 30 point mg/dl higher than patients specific LDL goal. My cholesteral is 195. HDL is 62 LDL is 116. I guess this means non-HDL less LDL is 17. Is that good or bad? Do I need at least 30 points of this, or is it that over 30 points is bad?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A recent study showed then if your HDL is within normal limits you shouldn't worry about atherosclerosis. As per your reports, it's very good that you are having that level of HDL. You should not worry about LDL that is also normal in your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
