How Can Fever Along With Sore Throat And Headache Be Treated?

My 18 year old daughter has a fever of 101.4, sore throat and headache. Just returned home from college for spring break. Initial reading was 103.3. Drinking a glass of water reduced it to 102.5 and then 101.4. Administered 2 ibuprofen tablets. Suggested course of action? Thank you, Dr. Ted Ehret

Sore throat and fever are very common after travel. A thorough oral and throat examination is necessary. I recommend starting antibiotics if it hasn't resolved in 4 to 5 days. Gargling with warm saline water will help relieve the sore throat. Continue with the ibuprofen along with omeprazole.
