How Can Fever In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi, my son is 22 months old, he started with a fever 2 days ago, I believe he is teething as he was holding his gums and pulling, pointing at his cheeks and saying ouch. I ve been alternating between Tempra and Advil to help with his fever and pain. Today is day 3 I have noticed mild red bumps only on his tummy and back. No where else, they are not bothering him and they don t look like they have anything to it, I m wondering if this is a result of the fever?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As of now continue paracetamol and do sponging to reduce the body temperature.
The red bumps may be fever blisters.
If symptoms persist better to consult a pediatrician and get evaluated.
Focus infection has to be looked for.
Antibiotics may be started empirically.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
