Hi, my 2 month-old has been having flu symptoms for 2 days such as stuffy nose and dry cough that makes her very fussy. I ve consulted a local doc and been prescribed fenistil by consuming 3 drops 3 times a day. Do you think it is safe to give fenistil to a 2 month- old? What other no medicine alternatives I can try? Thank u so much.
hello
the dose of fenistil prescribed for the 2 month old is correct.
fenistil is a potent antihistaminic , Its effect sets in after 20 to 60 minutes and lasts several hours. Fenistil drops as well as Fenistil syrup is particularly indicated in paediatric practice. it has a little sedative effect.
but the dose prescribed for your child is least likely to cause any side effects.
rather it will calm down the child and decrease his irritation and fussiness caused by cold and cough by its antihistaminic action.
generally common cold is self limiting, which slowly subsides in 7 to 8 days.
take care and do get well soon
