How Can Frequent Diarrhea Be Treated?
Thank you. I have a developmentally disabled brother 66 years of age who appears to have been taking omeprazole 40 mg daily for over 5 years - he was in a different state so not sure of the history - but he has developed frequent diarrhea and trying to see if connected - he is visiting from another state so no access to his doctor or records - he doesn t remember ever having heartburn

As per my clinical experience, the diarrhea can be a part of chronic PPI intake side effect profile or other GI issues altering the gut flora. Primarily he has to omit the Omeprazole intake, supplement gut with probiotics in terms of tablets and food till he meets the doctor.
