Hemorrhoids are inflamed and swollen veins that are formed when there is continuous irritation of the veins present in the rectum area and inflammation can lead to pain and bleeding during bowel evacuation.
It is commonly aggravated if you have a history of chronic constipation. You can take stool softeners and laxatives. Eat more green vegetables, salads, fresh fruits, yogurt and drink plenty of water. Do regular exercise. You can also start to apply topical ointments containing steroids and numbing agents like lignocaine. Do cool compresses.
You should also do sitz bath that is sitting in a warm water tub especially after bowels. You can do cool compresses. Avoid spicy foods as it can increase irritation and pain. In case if still there is no relief consult a Proctologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and anoscopy can be done.
You can be advised surgical procedures like Rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy or hemorrhoidectomy that is surgical removal of the hemorrhoids.
