How Can Hemorrhoids Be Treated While Suffering From IBS?

Hi I had a gallbladder Hida Scan today. I have IBS along with other gastritis issues. I had a vowel movement about 3 hours after the scan and saw quite a bit of bright red blood in the toilet and on the TP. In the past I’ve had 2 rectal surgeries to inlarge it. Also at times struggle with fissures and hemorrhoids. I don’t feel like it’s any of those listed above due to experience. They gave me an IV with 1 med waited 45 min then scanned for 20 min then pushed the radioactive med. I was fine during the scan and after other than cold sweats. The bleeding has almost stopped. Could this be concerning? Thank you so much ☺️ Cass

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Hemorrhoid bleeding can be treated by medication or surgery. It depends on the severity of bleeding, site of hemorrhoids, position of hemorrhoids as well as pain.

Short duration bleeding with external hemorrhoids in single direction can be properly managed by medication like lignocaine + calcium dobesilate topical applications along with proper management of constipation.

Otherwise severe continuous bleeding hemorrhoids situated around anal regions with complications require surgical management, it includes cautery, banding or surgical removal. So, it is better to consult surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
