Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A hiatus hernia basically means that a portion of your esophagus and stomach have rolled up into your thoracic cavity. As a result, there is a reflux of acid and food into the esophagus and out.

That is what causes the nausea and vomiting. As a result, you have been losing weight and experiencing decreased bowel movements. Since the doctors feel it isn't significant enough to be reduced by a surgery, you could temporarily take antacids like pantaprazole or ranitidine.

Additionally, colloidal bismuth solution is also a good idea. Sleep with your head elevated that is two pillows under your neck while you sleep. Avoid spicy and oily food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
