How Can Infected Tonsils With Fever Be Treated?

My girlfriend was recently diagnosed with infected tonsils, she has been running a fever and has been unable to eat because of this. She is currently taking penicillin for the infection and prednisone for the inflammation. It has been three days since she has got the medication and is still complaining of not being able to eat anything. Any suggestions?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Her situation may be related to non effective antibiotics. Switching to another antibiotic may be needed. For this reason, I recommend performing a throat bacterial culture in order to see which antibiotic is the best for this type of infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
