How Can Irregular Periods While Suffering From PCOS Be Treated?

hi. So I have a PCOS. I have irregular period. My last period came after 2.5 months. Then I had unprotected sex so took an emergency contraceptive the next day, this was on Nov 10zth. I took two pregnancy tests and they came negative. But my periods have not come yet. Is this normal ? What can I do ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. First of all it is important to rule out pregnancy. Though your pregnancy test s came negative I will still advise you to get an USG abdomen done since you have still not got your periods. It will also help to asess your PCOD problem. You should also get a blood sugar level and Thyroid profile done as these are one of the common cause s of PCOD. There are many treatment options for PCOD like oral contraceptives, Metformin , depending on the severity and associated conditions. You can discuss this with your gynaecologist. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
