How Can Itchy Rashes On The Body Be Treated?

Hello Doctor, My mother , Age 55 got some rashes on her body. They are there from past 2 days. Used Citirizien tablet yesterday (morning and evening) but the rashes did not get reduced where as itching sensation reduced a bit.Could you please suggest appropriate medication to be followed. Thanks,

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your mother have symptoms of itchy rashes on the body. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like allergic reaction, contact dermatitis can be caused by coming into contact beauty products chemical, side effects or certain medicines, sensitivity to sunlight , eczema and psoriasis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Maintain proper personal hygiene.

- Take zyrtec one a day and apply cold compresses to reduce the itchiness and inflammation.

- Drink plnety of fluids.

- Avoid application of any hard cosmetics.

You should consult dermatologist for proper examination Doctor may order skin patch test , blood test , test fro allergy and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe corticosteroid ointment , antibiotics , anti inflammatory and immunosuppressants .
