How Can Knee Pain Be Treated?

Since I was in an automobile accident 1 month ago, my knee has been hurting. My knee buckles and shoots pain up and down my leg. It bucked hard yesterday in the shower and I am in a lot of pain. It feels to be inside my knee, towards the back. Sometimes, the pain shoots down my shin. I had an xray taken earlier this month, but nothing appeared to be wrong. Something is very wrong. It hurts to walk, especially when I get up from sitting or laying down. I can t sleep very well due to the pain. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As you had an accident one month back and you already did x-ray which is normal still you have severe pain during movement, so as a physician I think it may be a ligament tear in the knee joint. For that, you can do a CT scan of that joint after consultation. Along with that, you can use knee Cap. Take aceclofenac for pain. Don't give much pressure on that knee and take rest. You can apply diclofenac gel or Volini spray on the knee joint. I will suggest you review back here with detailed history or concern with orthopedics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
