How Can Knee Pain Due To Dislocated Knee Be Treated?

Over a year and a half ago I had a knee injury. I dislocated my knee and was first told by one doctor that I fully tour my lcl, then I was told by another doctor that I had a partial tear in my acl and he sent me to physical therapy. I was at physical therapy from April to the end of September. The therapist then told me he believes that I also have some sort of tear in my McL also.During my time in physical therapy I had moments of extrem pain in my knee. My parents then decided to go to another doctor, that doctor said I had only partially tours my acl. Ever since my injury my knee has never stopes hurting, it continues to pop, it gives out and I can hear it tear. I also still can t bend it to its full extent. My question is why is it still hurting when it happened almost a year and a half ago?, and do you have any advice for me on what I should do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, get an MRI of the knee done. That would define the exact type & extent of the injury.

An orthopedic surgeon would then decide about the required treatment. It would be oral medicines or injections (intramuscular/in the joint)/physiotherapy/strengthening of muscles involved in movements Or Surgery to repair the torn ligament.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
