How Can Leg Pain After A Lumbar Back Fusion Surgery Be Treated?

I am recovering from an L4-5 lumbar back infusion. It has now been almost 6 months, and the pain continues down my legs an into my BOTH total knee replacements. I am about 50 pounds over-weight, and wondering if that is my only answer to get rid of the pain. I love to exercise, but haven t for several months. I am not to take NSAIDS, due to the fact, it could damage my kidney functioning. Tylenol Extra Strength does not help me. What other options do I have for pain relief. My back surgeon says my x-rays look good, but I have a tremendous amount of arthritis. Carol B.

Hi,

Sorry to hear of your pain. Though increased weight is one factor related to your pain.

If you have still the pain there are few options including physiotherapy and certain drugs like pregabalin that may help your pain.

NSAIDs can be used for some days if needed. So talk to your doctor for a proper pain management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
