How Can Lower Backache And Leg Ache Be Treated?

I have lower back pain that sometimes goes to my leg, I think it might be the start of sciatica. I have the prescribed ibuprofen that is 3x strong as over the counter but it doesn t always work. Someone at work offered me morphine but I m hesitating because I thought it was a street drug. how different is morphine to the ibuprofen?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Ibuprofen is a non-steroid analgesic drug which is Cox inhibitor this leads to decrease prostaglandin secretion by which it decreases pain.

Morphine is an opioid drug act on central nervous system to inhibit the threshold of pain sensitivity. You should take morphine analogues. Like tramadol, oxycodone etcetera.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
