Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 69 years old and have been having lower back pain for about 6 months. I have been treating it with OTC pain medications and topical ointments to get some relief. But it has been getting worse. I don t think it is my spine, as it is on my right side. So maybe my hip or the bones between the spine and hip (sacroiliac?). The pain isn t shooting down my leg, so probably not the sciatic nerve. What does it sound like to you?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hello,
Sacroiliac joint arthritis can give such symptoms. Better to have an examination by orthopedics and x-ray of the lumbosacral spine to rule out the exact cause. Muscle relaxants exercises and physiotherapy will be helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nishad BN
